French carmaker Renault is to build a battery factory in northern France together with Chinese battery manufacturer Envision AESC. Envision will invest around two billion euros in the planned “Gigafactory” near Renault’s plant in Douai, French media reported on Monday, citing the Élysée Palace. The new battery factory will complement the recently announced Renault ElectriCity mobility industry cluster, which consists of three factories in Douai, Maubeuge, and Ruitz dedicated exclusively to electric vehicles.
