Hungary’s planned Covid-19 vaccine production plant will also be equipped to manufacture Chinese Corona vaccines, according to media reports. This was announced by Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Monday after a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, Reuters reported citing Hungary’s state news agency MIT. According to the report, the agreement represents a “great strategic advantage” for Hungary, Szijjártó said. Hungary would become the first EU state to produce Chinese vaccines. It remained open when production of the Chinese vaccine could begin in Hungary. Sinopharm’s product does not yet have European Medicines Agency (EMA) approval for the EU. Hungary had decided to use the vaccine with an emergency approval.
