The first human infection with the H3N8 bird flu virus has been detected in China. This was announced by health authorities. However, large-scale transmission among humans is not expected. According to AFP, the National Health Commission of China stated that the risk was low. The infection was found in a four-year-old boy from Henan province. He had been hospitalized with fever and other symptoms in early April. Authorities called the case a “one-time transmission”. Bird flu mainly occurs in wild birds.
