EU seeks common line on Winter Games

The EU is still looking for a common approach to the Winter Olympics in Beijing. The topic was supposed to be on the agenda of the EU foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Monday. In the end, however, it was only marginally about the Olympics. “We are trying to find a common line here,” German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said after the meeting. There were different positions, she said. “We are united by our great passion for sports. But we are also united by our consistent stand for human rights,” Baerbock said. It was important to come to a common line.
