China leads in offshore wind power

According to its own figures, China has become the world’s largest producer of offshore wind power. State television CCTV reported that the People’s Republic built 16.9 gigawatts of new wind farms last year. Data from the National Energy Administration (NEA) showed that this brought the total installed offshore wind power to 26.4 gigawatts – more than any other country in the world. The previous leader was the United Kingdom. The UK’s capacity was around 11 gigawatts in the third quarter of 2021. This makes China’s current capacity 2.5 times larger. rad
