Building collapsed in Changsha

A building collapsed in the central Chinese city of Changsha, the capital of Hunan, on Friday. According to international agency reports, it contained apartments, a hotel and a cinema. Xinhua news agency, on the other hand, spoke of a “self-constructed residential building.” According to the CCTV television station, residents made “structural changes” that damaged stability. Prosecutors are now investigating why building regulators did not intervene. On Sunday, police arrested nine individuals.
