Beijing warns UN states against Conference on Xinjiang

China has apparently called on United Nations member states not to participate in an event planned by Germany, the US, and Britain on the situation of Uighurs in Xinjiang. China’s UN embassy accuses the organizers of “using human rights issues as a political tool to interfere in China’s internal affairs like Xinjiang,” Reuters reported. “They are obsessed with provoking a confrontation with China,” the letter said, according to the report. The online event could “only lead to more confrontation,” it added.
