China is preparing for further dispute with the US and EU by changing its law. “Meanwhile, we think it’s necessary for China to have a specific law on countering foreign sanctions so that we have a legitimate basis for such countermeasures,” government spokesman Wang Wenbin said on Thursday. Meanwhile, state broadcaster CCTV reported that the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress had already passed the law. It aims to give the state defences against “unilateral and discriminatory” sanctions. Details of the amendment were still vague.
