The Communist Party has a woman problem

The numbers speak for themselves: 1950, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 – these are the birth years of the women represented on the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. All of them are women who are close to retirement age if they are not already. Like Sun Chunlan, who turns 71 this year and is the only woman in the 25-member extended Politburo.
